Privacy Policy
Effective September 28, 2026.
What we collect, what we don't, and how we use it. Short version: we store only what's needed to run the marketplace — your account, your orders, and how you use the site. We share order details with the winery that ships your wine and payment details with Stripe. We never sell your personal information.
1. Who we are #
Goodwine Enterprise ("Goodwine", "we", "us") operates goodwine.co, a marketplace where consumers and trade buyers purchase wine directly from independent wineries. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
2. You must be 21 or older #
Goodwine sells alcohol. You must be at least 21 years old to create an account or place an order. We may ask you to verify your age at signup, checkout, or delivery. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 21, and we delete it if we learn of it.
3. Information we collect #
Account information. Name, email address, and password (stored as a hash — we can't see your password). Trade buyers also provide business name, license details, and signer name and title during application.
Order information. Shipping address, phone number, order contents, delivery instructions, and order history.
Payment information. Card payments are processed by Stripe. We receive confirmation and limited metadata (such as card brand and last four digits) but never your full card number.
Winery business information. Wineries provide business details including contact information, licenses, product catalogs, and payout account information so we can facilitate sales and payouts.
Instagram integration (wineries). If a winery connects its Instagram business account, we read the account's basic profile information and media (photos, videos, captions, and post links) through Meta's Instagram API on a scheduled sync, and display that content in a photo gallery on the winery's Goodwine storefront. We do not post to, message from, or otherwise manage the connected account. A winery may disconnect at any time from its dashboard; synced media is removed from the storefront within 30 days.
Communications. Messages you send to wineries or to us, including support requests, and survey responses.
Device and usage information. Browser type, device identifiers, IP address, pages visited, and actions taken on the site, which we use to understand and improve the service.
4. How we use your information #
We use your information to:
- Create and maintain your account.
- Process, fulfill, and support your orders.
- Process payments and winery payouts through Stripe.
- Display winery storefronts, including connected Instagram galleries.
- Communicate with you about orders, shipments, and account matters.
- Send marketing communications where you have opted in — you can unsubscribe at any time.
- Verify age and trade-buyer eligibility; prevent fraud and abuse.
- Operate, secure, and improve the site.
- Comply with legal obligations, including alcohol shipping and tax compliance.
5. Information we share #
Wineries fulfilling your order. The winery shipping your wine receives your name, shipping address, phone number, and order details so it can ship and support the order. Payment card details stay with Stripe and are not shared with the winery.
Payment processing. Stripe processes all card payments and winery payouts under its own privacy policy.
Compliance and fulfillment providers. Where required for alcohol shipping compliance and tax, we share the minimum order information needed with providers such as Vinoshipper.
Service providers. Hosting, database, authentication, email delivery, analytics, and error-monitoring providers who process data on our behalf and under contract.
Legal. When required by law, court order, or to protect our rights and the safety of others, including alcohol regulators and tax authorities as required.
Business transfers. If Goodwine is acquired or merged, your information may transfer as part of that transaction.
We do not sell your personal information.
6. Your choices and rights #
Access, correction, deletion. Email privacy@goodwine.co and we'll respond within a reasonable time.
Marketing. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link. Transactional emails (order confirmations and the like) can't be opted out of while you hold an account with pending orders.
Instagram. Wineries may disconnect Instagram at any time from the dashboard.
Account. You can update profile details in your account settings. Account deletion is handled on request, subject to records we are legally required to keep (for example, tax and transaction records).
7. California privacy rights #
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, to correct inaccurate information, and to opt out of any sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell personal information). To exercise these rights, contact privacy@goodwine.co. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
8. Cookies and tracking #
We use essential cookies for sign-in, cart, and preferences, plus analytics to understand site usage. We do not use third-party advertising trackers. You can control cookies in your browser settings; blocking essential cookies may break parts of the site.
9. Data retention #
We keep account and order records for as long as your account is active and as long as required by law (tax, alcohol compliance, and financial record-keeping). When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it.
10. Security #
We use encryption in transit, access controls, and reputable infrastructure providers. No system is perfectly secure — please use a strong, unique password for your account.
11. Changes to this policy #
We will post updates here with a new effective date. For material changes, we will notify you by email or site notice.
